How to Screenshot on Laptop or Desktop Computers

Screengrabs, screencaps, screens - whatever you want to call it, this unique function allows you to take a desktop photo of your computer.

Screenshotting is helpful at work when you want to show off your co-workers on a web page, or when you call Skype during the holidays and want to take a picture of your family across the country. Being able to capture those moments directly on your screen and save them as image files is one of the modern game changers of the computer

How to take a screenshot on a laptop

Default full screen mode

desktops and laptops use Windows or Chrome apps, which means you can take screenshots with a simple click of a keyboard. Usually located at the top right of your keyboard, the Print Screen key can be abbreviated as PrtScn or Prt SC. This button will allow you to capture the entire desktop screen.

However, the captured image is not saved immediately, it is actually copied to your computer's clipboard. Follow these steps to convert that floating skreengrab into an image file that you can save.

4. Save the file as JPG or PNG and save it in an easily accessible folder for immediate sharing

Another default option for a limited screen

When you don't want to take your whole screenshot, but rather part of your screen, using Snip & Sketch makes taking selected photos easier than ever.

Windows 10 laptops introduced a new automated feature in the October 2018 update, which allows users to successfully hold parts of their screen without the need for third-party applications. These steps will show you to catch up and save the process.

1. Press the Windows + Shift + S key at the same time. Your screen will fade into a white view and your cursor will change from a cursor point to a crosshair cursor.

2. Select the part of your screen that you wish to capture. Captions will disappear from your screen and copy to your computer's clipboard.

3. Open the photo editing program.

4. Open a new image and tap CTRL + V to attach a screenshot.

5. Save the screenshot as a JPG or PNG file and place it in a simple access folder.

Snatching tool

Whether your laptop is running on Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, or 10, the Snap tool is an excellent integrated feature that lets you select any size of your screen to capture instantly.

Since all Windows desktop computers come with a snap tool, the app stays within your start menu. Once found, these steps will lead you to a 3-step screen process.
